Have blaster, will travel

Over 6 years ago, I was fortunate enough to break into the “big leagues” of Chicago media when the good folks of the Chicago Redeye gave me a shot at my own column. Since then it’s been a roller coaster ride of geeky encounters full of fun and laughter – with a couple heartbreaks along the way.

And while I will remain with Redeye as their “Resident Geek”, continuing to write features on the world of nerd & geek culture for the Trib’s commuter paper, the blog will be breaking away and going in new, exciting directions!

I’m grateful to Curt Wagner, Phil Thompson, Jimmy Greenfield, Mike Hines, Scott Kleinberg, Kristin Samuelson and Jordan Schultz for their support, patience and friendship. I look forward to continuing my relationship with Chicago’s finest journalists and editors.

At the same time, it’s time to kick this sucker into hyperdrive and see where she’ll go!

And so begins a new era for Chicago’s King of Geeks ™….
