FLEMINGTON – The 2014 NJ SUPERHERO WEEKEND (formerly WONDER WOMAN DAY) to benefit SAFE in Hunterdon will be hosted by Comic Fusion on October 45 in Flemington’s Turntable Junction shopping village. Comic Fusion will auction comic book themed sketches to raise money and awareness for this domestic violence charity. We’ll have some prix fixe prints and raffles of prints, books and more. (Read more after the jump!)

Since 2007, Comic Fusion has raised close to $50,000 for SAFE in Hunterdon. This has been made possible by tremendous volunteers and companies such as Oni Press, Gov’t Comics, Periscope Studios, Vices Press and many talented comic book creators. This year we are able to incorporate some donated digital comics as well which will be used on some of the art as unlockable achievements: when milestones in bidding are reaching, that unlocks the prize of the USB to become a reward to the winner bidder on those pieces.

This year Comic Fusion welcomes to the store guest artists Nick Mockoviak, Tom Schloendorn, Charles Wilson III, Donna Gregory, Manda Cantillion, Stephen Coughlin, Joe Caramagna and kitten rescuer/musician Sarah Donner.

Comic Fusion will also host the STAR WARS costuming groups the 501st Empire and the Rebel Legion, a GI Joe’s Finest division, Captain Marvel, Batman and Gotham Villains and many other costumed superheroes who will gladly pose for pictures.

The art sketches are auctioned with bids taken via email and in person at Comic Fusion. There are also raffles and door prizes.

Karen Carbonello, the Executive Director of SAFE in Hunterdon states, “Super Hero Weekend is all about empowerment and using our powers to help others. We are thrilled to be the sole beneficiaries of such a positive message. With all the super heroes “in residence” this weekend we are surely going to be Safe in Hunterdon.”

“Super Hero Weekend is a celebration of the characters we grew up with and to remember the lessons comics teach us so that we can make our community better and safer” explained Stacy Korn, co-owner of Comic Fusion. “We are excited this year to continue to partner with other businesses in the community to make this a wonderful weekend of family fun. Each year the event evolves, and this year at our new location in Turntable Junction, we hope it will be bigger than ever.”
