Very soon the chill of autumn will be in the air, and the thrill of the Halloween season will be filling our geeky souls! With that in mind, the good folks of Chicago Loot Drop are holding a spooky-yet-fun fundraiser that is sure to make this Halloween a memorable one. The event is called the “Shamblers’ Ball” and is – in essence – an Olde English Country dance that is interrupted by…
…wait for it…
A ZOMBIE ATTACK!
Here’s the 411:
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”
— Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
Come dance the night away at our 5th annual holiday fundraiser, raising funds to buy toys and games for kids at Comer Children’s Hospital, a Child’s Play participating hospital.
Dance instructors along with a live band will lead an English Country Dance, a la the Netherfield Ball from Pride & Prejudice. However, this is the Shamblers’ Ball, so the night will end when zombies break in and dancers must fight for their lives, ala the Netherfield Ball from Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, in a quick, fun zombie attack game.
Dress is Cocktail Attire (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-does-dressy-casual-mean.htm) or Dressy Casual (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-does-dressy-casual-mean.htm). Period costumes permitted, but please keep in mind that dancers will be moving around each other and passing through raised arms. (NO JEANS!)
Tickets are only $20 in September. Get them soon, because the price will increase to $25 in October and finally $30 at the door.
