Halloween Parties for Chicago’s Geeks & Nerds (and geeky families too!)

Chicago has one of the most vibrant geek/nerd communities in the U.S. and you don’t have to look far to find fun events where you can “get your geek on.”

With that in mind, and knowing that Halloween is one of those holidays that really bring out the kid in all of us, here are some fun events and parties that Chicago’s geeks, nerds and their “norm” friends can enjoy! (With one thrown in for my geeky peeps in the suburbs!):

Sarah Connor takes on Jason Voorhees in “SLASH UP”!

With Halloween just over a week away, it’s time to start sharing some treats with Geek To Me readers!

First up is a cleverly staged confrontation of movie characters brought to us by one of my fave YouTube Channels “WFTLOL.” These are the folks who brought us the wicked “Marvel Zombies VS Army of Darkness” fanfilm. The film has been taken down but if you have decent google-fu you’ll be able to find it.

This production is part of their new series titled “Slash Up” where they take characters from different movie franchises and pit them against each other. In the inaugural episode, they have “Terminator” series heroine Sarah Connor square off against “Friday the 13th” slasher Jason Voorhees. Fun concept, but does it deliver? You decide.

Very soon the chill of autumn will be in the air, and the thrill of the Halloween season will be filling our geeky souls! With that in mind, the good folks of Chicago Loot Drop are holding a spooky-yet-fun fundraiser that is sure to make this Halloween a memorable one. The event is called the “Shamblers’ Ball” and is – in essence – an Olde English Country dance that is interrupted by…

…wait for it…

A ZOMBIE ATTACK!
